Life Coaching and Personal Development

Life coaching and personal development coaching in Wakefield and West Yorkshire.

My name is Lynne Cole, a fully qualified life coach and personal development coach.

Below are just some of my relevant qualifications;

What Is a Life Coach?

A life coach’s job is to help you to reach goals and to improve your quality of life. They can help you work on your career, relationship, family, and/or self-care, assisting you to become more fulfilled and better able to maintain mental and physical health.

No Obligation Counselling Consultation

It’s very important that you feel comfortable and relaxed with your therapist and that is why I offer all new clients a free no-obligation telephone consultation.

I find that most of my clients are very keen to get started right away. If, however, you are not sure whether you wish to proceed at this point, then you are of course under no obligation to continue.

Do I Need a Life Coach?

Many of the most successful people in the world have benefited from life coaching, such as Bill Gates, Bill Clinton, Richard Branson, Oprah Winfrey, and Michael Phelps. There are numerous different situations in which a life coach can help to make things easier. No matter your personal goals, a life coach can help you to reach them. While it’s possible to do so without a life coach, they can certainly make it much easier.

That said, CBT might not be the best option for people with conditions such as autism, which can result in difficulty recognising emotions and challenging rigid thought patterns. If it doesn’t appear to be helping, try something else. For most people, however, it can be very helpful.

Why Do People Get Life Coaching?

Personal development coaches can help with many different issues that may be holding you back. With a life coach, you can work towards financial security, a good work-life balance, strong relationships, higher self-esteem, general life satisfaction, and overcoming fear or anxiety. In my experience sometimes just having an unconnected person look at a problem is vital in finding how to solve it. Accountability can help you to stick to a difficult process, and encouragement can make all the difference in boosting self-belief to reach a goal.

About Lynne

In my practice I support people who feel a wide range of emotions: fear, sadness, doubt, overwhelmed, trapped by self-criticism, negative perceptions and or disruptive patterns.

I have a particular interest in helping people reduce anxiety as well as people who are navigating what it means to be themselves in several areas of their life.

Whatever you’re struggling with, I’m here to help you.

What’s the Difference Between a Life Coach and a Therapist?

Many therapists also offer life coaching, but most life coaches are not qualified therapists. A life coach does not need formal qualifications and is not obliged to keep to the confidentiality laws that a therapist must follow. As a therapist I am trained and legally permitted to work directly with mental health problems, while a life coach is not. However, they can certainly help you to find a therapist or doctor who can, and the improvements from life coaching can decrease stress and reduce mental illness symptoms.

CBT is useful for depression for similar reasons as anxiety; it helps you to replace distressing thoughts with more positive ones. Depression often involves ruminating on fears and feelings of sadness and unworthiness, and CBT can help you to stop obsessing over these. It is also often hard for people with depression to motivate themselves and take actions which would put them in a better place, which would reduce the depression. CBT can help you come up with the motivation and push yourself to make needed changes.

How Do Life Coaching Sessions Work?

With a life coach, you will usually discuss specific goals you have for the future. A life coach provides support that is often essential for gaining momentum to progress towards these goals. A good coach can recognise when you get stuck and help you regain motivation, and also help you work out what needs to be done next when you’re stuck.

Sessions typically take place on a regular schedule over a period of time, like therapy sessions, so the coach can observe the changes you implement and tell what is and isn’t working. They may be held in person or (this is becoming more common after the COVID lockdown) online or on the phone. The client will usually choose what to focus on and talk about.
